Photo Checklist for Quote Requests

What to photograph and write down before Contact, Add to Quote, or Business Inquiry — so size and finish questions can be answered without invented dimensions.

Original educational diagram — measure the opening, then photograph context. Not a jobsite photo.

Quick Answer

Send width × height in inches, photos of the opening with a tape in frame when possible, the old cover/label if present, and your preferred finish. Do not invent a size to “make it fit.”

Before you shoot

  1. Expose the opening safely if you can.
  2. Measure clear width × height twice.
  3. Wipe dust so the tape numbers are readable in photos.

Photo checklist

  • □ Opening with tape showing width
  • □ Opening with tape showing height
  • □ Wide shot of wall or ceiling context
  • □ Old cover face (square to camera)
  • □ Any stamped size label on the old cover
  • □ Preferred finish note in your message (White or Black)

What to write in the message

Field Example
Opening size 10 × 4 (inches, clear opening)
Old label (if any) Stamped 10×4 / none visible
Finish preference Black
Quantity / rooms 2 covers, living + hallway
Access notes Ceiling register / need guidance

Where to send

  • Contact for general questions
  • Add to Quote on catalog cards when you are comparing Confirmed sizes
  • Business Inquiry for multi-unit or project requests

Include the written width × height even when photos look clear. Photos support the numbers — they do not replace them.

Common mistakes

  • Sending only a beauty shot of the room with no tape in frame.
  • Photographing the outer face and calling that “the size.”
  • Omitting finish preference, then asking for a rush answer.
  • Inventing a size because the opening “looks like 10×4.”
